A note on this page

Data can inform a conversation. It cannot tell your whole story.

These figures describe populations, not what will happen in any one pregnancy or birth. For questions about your own care, bring them to your OB, midwife, or other licensed care team. A doula offers non-clinical support and can help you prepare questions, understand your options, and feel less alone in the room.

This measure comes from final 2024 birth-certificate data.

CDC, Births: Final Data for 2024 2024 data, published June 2026

15,858

women contributed usable outcome data across 26 trials of continuous labor support

In the 2017 review, continuous support was associated with a higher likelihood of spontaneous vaginal birth. The studies examined continuous support broadly, not only doulas.

Methodology & sources

How this reference is put together.

Kindroot selected the most recent publicly available national and Oklahoma birth data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, plus a peer-reviewed Cochrane systematic review for the continuous-support figure. We use the source’s own definitions and label provisional data as provisional.

This page is reviewed about monthly, or sooner when a key source releases updated data. Last reviewed October 2, 2026.
